In conversation with Jesse James Jaime

Jesse James Jaime, pronounced [jes-ee jaymzh hie-mee], is a singer/songwriter that specializes in audio remixing. Jesse has been remixing since 2004. Jesse’s enjoyment of remixed house music has led himself to a musical career. In 2004 there were some unreleased remixes that remained commercially unreleased. Musically frustrated, Jesse said to himself, “If the industry is not going to release the remixes. I will remix it myself.” This spawned a new personal direction for Jesse from fan to musician.  Jesse James Jaime is finally here and hopes the public is ready for an awesome musical experience!

  • What inspired you to transition from being a fan of music to becoming a musical artist yourself, particularly in remixing?

There was a single that was released but for some reason the record label would not release the remixes for the single.  Instead of making it worse, I decided to remix the track myself.

  • Your motto, “When rising above a dilemma, be unashamed to rise in small increments”, is very inspiring. How has this philosophy influenced your musical journey?

There were times when I questioned my musical career’s future, and I tried to remind myself to never give up.

  • You grew up listening to iconic artists like Stevie Wonder and Michael Jackson. How have their styles influenced your approach to creating and remixing music?

Their styles have influenced my approach to music mainly because of the R&B influence, songwriting technique, and the reflective songwriting of where they were at in their life at that time.

  • Your genre-eclectic approach sets you apart. How do you balance blending elements from EDM, Hip-Hop, R&B, Alternative Rock, and Pop in your remixes?

I find balance of blending elements challenging because it is easy to carry over the similar styled mix into a different subgenre.  Therefore, having a reference mix of each type of mix can help separate them.

  • What was the story behind your honorable mention in the 2013 remix competition, and how did that recognition impact your career?

The honorable mention was the turning point made me want to release an EDM album of my own.

  • Your album “No Problems Accidental Expectations” has already gained attention with its multi-single releases. What has been the most significant feedback you’ve received from fans and critics so far?

Based on the feedback of the album, the most significant feedback is usually about the production of the drops.

  • With 21 top mixes on Beatport.com, you’ve achieved notable success. What’s your process for creating a remix that resonates so strongly with listeners?

Timing the track, then layering it to the appropriate subgenre.
