With Noches de Pikes, released around ten days ago in different formats, Jeff Mental presents a concise EP that moves between disco, house, acid and nocturnal club pressure. Issued through Melómana Records, the release works because it does not try to over-explain itself: three tracks, three moods, one unmistakable attitude.
Noches de Pikes sets the tone with a powerful rhythm section and a funk-charged bassline that gives the track its immediate body. The disco groove is direct but not nostalgic; it feels rougher, more playful and more connected to the messiness of a real night out. The vocal adds the bite, landing somewhere between provocation and memory.
Maldita Distracción is more hypnotic. The house structure is clearer, but Jeff Mental bends it with acid details, psychedelic touches and a refined sense of repetition. There is a krautrock spirit running underneath the track, not as a reference for collectors, but as a motorik pulse that keeps everything moving with controlled intensity.
The Tronik Youth Remix closes the EP by pulling Noches de Pikes into a darker club environment. The remix slows the energy down without reducing its force, adding tough 303s and tense arpeggios that make it ideal for late-night transitions. It is a strong ending to a release that feels functional, stylish and deliberately unpolished in all the right places.
