Hey there music lovers! Are you ready for an inside look into the life of a music producer and DJ? Well, you’re in luck because today we have an exclusive interview with the one and only iMan Luis.
– Can you share with us the genesis of your musical journey and how you ventured into the world of DJ?
It was 2016 when I saw Afrojack DJing at the “Waterzonic” music festival in Thailand and fell in love with EDM. Upon returning to Iran, I began learning DJing, music production, and creating DJ podcasts.
– With which labels and artists have you worked on?
I collaborated extensively with my talented friends Milinor, Sound Breaker, Reza Yousefi, Arman Harooni, Danilux, and DJ Alien. Additionally, I worked with Musata Music, Yeiskomp Records, Adrenaline Records, Discovery Music, and Alveda Music.
– Any new releases?
Recently, I released two single tracks, “Simurgh” and “The Street of Rave,” with Alveda Music. I also signed a contract with my friend’s label, Last State Records, for a Bigroom-style track called “Divine Energy.” This year, I am hoping to work on more solo projects.
– Which DAW do you use to produce music?
FL Studio is my favorite DAW.
– So, what does a typical day look like for you?
I’m active on social media and create content about “how to achieve success and make more money in Iran’s music industry” on my website and Instagram.
– What do you think sets DJing apart from other performing arts?
Interesting question! I think DJing is the best opportunity for music producers to become mainstage artists.
– Has your taste in music gone through any changes over time?
I really love the mainstage genre, like old school big room. Sometimes, I chill with classic songs.
– What’s been your biggest challenge as a DJ and music producer?
At the moment, my biggest challenge in Iran is the limitation on DJing and finding legal places for it.
– Do you have any dreams and plans for the future?
Of course! My biggest dream is to one day perform at a super huge music festival in my country, Iran. My community is trying to make this dream come true.
– What do you like to do in your spare time?
I like to create content and teach people what I have learned in order to help the growth of Iran’s music industry.
– What advice would you give to another DJ and music producer starting out in their career?
Learning DJing and music production skills is only one-third of the journey. You must also learn marketing and branding. Use the internet to network with other artists and promoters. Additionally, work on improving your mindset. Ignore anyone who sends negative energy your way and always maintain a positive attitude.
