Paris, July 26, 2024 – Electronic music maestro John Monkman is thrilled to announce the premiere of his latest live performance, ‘Pulse,’ a visionary collaboration with the acclaimed Paris-based creative group, Collectif Scale.
In a world where digital screens dominate the concert experience, Monkman and Collectif Scale have broken new ground with their innovative kinetic light pieces, offering a unique, abstract experience that perfectly harmonizes with Monkman’s futuristic soundscapes. This extraordinary collaboration was filmed in a warehouse just outside of Paris on July 6th, 2024, and promises to be an immersive audiovisual feast for the senses.
Why John Monkman Chose This Collaboration:
“Collectif Scale’s kinetic light art provides a more tangible and abstract experience that aligns powerfully with my music. Once our collaboration was confirmed, it gave me a clear goal and focus for how the music could be experienced,” said Monkman. “This project was an opportunity to explore music in its raw, unpolished state, bringing listeners closer to the source and moment of creation.”
In preparation for this groundbreaking event, Monkman dedicated four intense weeks in May to deep writing sessions, aiming to map out multiple tracks each day. The emphasis was on rapid idea generation and forward momentum, resulting in a collection of songs that, while still evolving, represent an exciting new chapter in his musical journey.
Monkman is renowned for his releases on some of the most prestigious labels in the electronic music scene, including Kompakt, ELLUM, Siamese, Crosstown Rebels and Anjunadeep. His innovative approach to production and sound design has earned him a reputation as one of the industry’s most forward-thinking artists.
