First Birthday Party Incoming: Dance Music Archive at Project House

Dance Music Archive (DMA) is celebrating the first anniversary of its daytime warehouse parties on Saturday, 5th April at Project House, Leeds. Known for documenting 35 years of UK dance and club culture, DMA brings its signature approach to this event, just like its Kisstory radio show hosted by Andi Durrant. DJs will curate sets from 1990-2005, selecting specific time periods to spin classic anthems, forgotten gems, bootlegs, and remixes from their chosen years.

Running 5-11pm, the event offers both a dancefloor experience and an outdoor space to relax and enjoy food from independent traders. The lineup remains a secret, ensuring an authentic, music-first experience for a welcoming, diverse crowd. Tickets are available from £25 + booking fee via Dance Music Archive.

DMA started during the pandemic when Andi Durrant, a veteran DJ and producer, decided to organise his extensive collection of mixes, flyers, live sets, and lost recordings. This led to the creation of Dancemusicarchive.com, a detailed year-by-year record of the evolution of dance music from the 1980s to the 2010s. More than just a collection, it provides vital context, unearthing the lesser-known tracks and forgotten moments that shaped dance music history.

Beyond the archive, DMA has become a major radio show, airing on Kisstory (Sundays, 7pm) and Kiss Dance (Saturdays, 5pm). Andi Durrant digs into dance music’s DNA, telling the stories behind the tracks that defined generations. With a career spanning over 25 years, Durrant’s influence on UK dance music is undeniable, from Galaxy and Capital FM residencies to international DJ sets and 130+ releases. His work on DMA even earned him a New York Festival Award.

The first birthday event isn’t about nostalgia—it’s a celebration of club culture. Expect music-focused storytelling, a fully engaged crowd, and top-quality food from Twisted Kitchen and The Otley Burger Company.
